Our Legal Services
The Legal Services Department (LSD) is viewed as both a legal reference and part of the Chamber’s organisational structure, for it dwells on providing exceptional legal services in a manner enhancing the Chamber’s role in the development, prosperity and sustainability of business activities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Firstly, Legal Consultancy
The LSD cares for rendering legal consultancy to members of the Chamber regarding matters presented to the Legal Services Department and related to their businesses with an aim of explaining the right legal status in accordance with contents stipulated by laws applicable in the United Arab Emirates. The LSD also gives advice through advisers who are legal specialists, something which is gratis during working hours.
Consultancy services include giving legal opinion and advice on all laws associated with doing business, in addition to the most widespread commercial contracts; namely –inter alia:
- Contracts on incorporating commercial companies,
- Contacts on commercial agencies,
- Contracts on appointing a services’ local agent.
- Commercial concession (franchising) contract.
Mediation: It a non-binding process of negotiation conducted by a neutral third party (i.e., the Legal Services Department) with an objective of helping disputed parties reach a solution to a pending dispute between them via amicable ways. This is by means of adopting and using novel arts of dialogue in order to bring about rapprochement in an effort to both achieve conciliation and resolve the dispute out of court and confidentially. It is intended to save time, effort and money and to attenuate law-courts’ overburden.
Terms and Conditions for Amicable Mediation:
- The complaint’s subject-matter should be a legal dispute (e. g., a financial claim, commercial fraud).
- One of the parties to the complaint should be an Abu Dhabi Chamber’s member.
- Considering and reviewing the dispute should not be within the purview of another entity’s competency.
- The complaint should be filed against a business or company.
- The dispute should not be pending consideration before any litigation or arbitration entity.
- Mediation fees should be paid.
Thirdly, Workshops and Seminars
The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry-based LSD regularly organises a number of seminars and workshops on various legal topics of interest to both the private sector and businessmen. Such workshops aim in their entirety at improving legal awareness in doing business, while casting light on legal phenomena in cooperation with competent governmental bodies.

Fifthly, Professional Training
The Abu Dhabi Chamber believes in the importance of community initiatives, and translating the Chamber’s approaches, the Legal Services Department (LSD) annually conducts training for a number of faculties of law’s graduates, developing them in theory and in practice, with an aim of providing them with legal skills so that they can have access to the labour market.
