His Excellency Mohamed Helal Al Mheiri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the Abu Dhabi Chamber has always been a strategic partner in supporting businesses during the novel Coronavirus crisis and took precedent in its digital transformation process of all its services effectively and efficiently.

He noted that the Chamber has launched a number of initiatives directed towards motivating businesses and encouraging them to confront the current crises in line with the measures taken by the government, especially in Abu Dhabi, to limit the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and mitigating its impact on all sectors, especially the economy. 
“Thanks to its far-fetching and futuristic foresight, our wise leadership was able to improve its global presence by showing unprecedented levels of efficiency in dealing with all emergencies and crises management effectively and flexibly and by launching nation-wide initiatives,” he added.


“The Abu Dhabi Chamber has utilized all the powers and latest technologies in its possession to manage the crises successfully. All the Chamber’s departments were working in harmony with the highest levels of professionalism in accordance to the directives of the higher management.”


He pointed out that the Chamber launched quality initiatives and kept on performing its duties in a way that works towards realizing the goals of the UAE in confronting the pandemic.


The digital platform of the Abu Dhabi Chamber has handled more than 800 transactions since its launch, which came in line with the Digital Month initiative that was launched by the Abu Dhabi government in March.


Moreover, the Events Section at the Chamber has organized more than 10 webinars and online events, whereas the Department of Delegation and International Representation has held three business meetings including online B2B matchmaking between Emirati and Korean businesses. 


In addition, the Abu Dhabi Chamber has held more than 5 diplomatic virtual meetings with ambassadors and diplomats to draw a comprehensive picture of the impact of the pandemic on the global economy and introduce the efforts and initiatives of the Chamber in supporting businesses in Abu Dhabi.


Within its endeavor to support women, the Chamber, through the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council, has executed more than 30 diverse events including panel discussions on COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on businesswomen and women entrepreneurs. The events of the council also included training courses and workshops on e-trade and marketing during the pandemic as well as consultations on the importance of technological advances, and innovation and creativity for business continuity. 


The Chamber also worked closely with its strategic partners to open new communication channels between the public sector and the private one and to propose solutions on how to meet the demands of businesses and support their continuity while adhering to the general health and safety measure.


Other initiatives also included urgent meetings with the Chamber’s Support Committees to identify the key challenges some key sectors face including the workers cities sector and the tourism sector. 


The Chamber has also, since the beginning of the pandemic, engaged with a number of business councils in Abu Dhabi to discuss the challenges of the current crisis. The Abu Dhabi Chamber and a multi-nation group of business councils and chambers based in Abu Dhabi have joined forces to engage with the UAE government and work collectively to ensure business continuity in the UAE.
Al Mheiri pointed out that one of the most important initiatives the Abu Dhabi Chamber launched during the COVID-19 pandemic is the Chamber Talk Program, noting that the program has held 9 sessions out of 23 ones so far.


The program and its sessions are designed specifically to spread awareness and provide consultation on the best ways of dealing with the impacts of the novel Coronavirus on businesses, which will help overcome the negative implications of the crisis and benefit from the opportunities it presents.
The launch of Chamber Talk was the result of hard efforts and continuous coordination with the biggest international consulting firms around the world that are specialized in the economic and business sectors.
