Organized by Abu Dhbai Chamber of Commerce
and Industry and hosted by Abu Dhabi for the first time at the level of the
Middle East, the Global Organizational Excellence Congress started yesterday
morning from 10-12 December, 2018 at the Jumeirah Hotel, Etihad Towers at Abu
Dhabi Corniche.

HE Owaidha Murshid Al Murar, Chairman of
Energy Department, HE Saeed Abduljaleel Al Faheem, Chairman of Shaikh Khalifa
Excellence Award, HE Muhammad Helal Al Mheiri, Dierctor General of Abu Dhabi
Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with a number of ADCCI Board of

future generations. To quote him, he said, “The best money investment is in
creating educated generations and we should race against time and devote our
steps towards education and knowledge more than those in any other field.”

Mr. Al Mheiri added, “In light of those
words, the UAE is still on the same track under the wise leadership of His
Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, may
Allah protect him. HH Shaikh Khalifa always calls for enlightened adoption of
modern science methods which would contribute to sustainable development of our
country. He says, “The leapfrog that the UAE has achieved in the field of
technology is not a result of cropped-up or exceptional circumstances, but it
is, in fact, a fruit of crowning a period of unflagging efforts and integrated
strategy for continuous development and improvement.”

Abu Dhabi Chamber

Mr. Al Mheiri stressed that Abu Chamber is
the pulsing heart and the
driving force behind the business community of Abu Dhabi. It is also the
governmental arm for organizing the private sector affairs, promoting the business environment and encouraging the
foreign investments and empowering them through adopting excellence methodology
and applications, creativity, innovation, sustainability and many other modern
techniques.

He also pointed out that Abu Chamber possesses
other scientific and academic arms that are keen on human development and
building capabilities such as Emirates Academy and Abu Dhabi School of
Management. In addition to that, the Abu Dhabi Chamber has professional arms
directed to organizational development and institutional governance like Abu Dhabi International Center for
Organizational Excellence (ADICOE), Abu Dhabi Center for Corporate Governance
and Women Business Council which is keen on enabling the Emirati woman to
participate effectively in the development of the national economy.

It is worth
mentioning that Abu Dhabi Chamber is the starting platform of the Federation of
the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the UAE. This gives it an additional
quality for coordinating the roles and organizing economic and social activities
in the UAE.

He also emphasized
that in order to achieve effective communication between public and private
sector institutions and organizations, Abu Dhabi Chamber takes the lead in
organizing the business forum every year where the events of both private and
public sectors meet. It is Abu Dhabi Business Forum which is held in
cooperation with Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi to become a
platform for exchanging ideas and views about the engines and incentives of the
national economy, and to highlight the obstacles of economic development. It also
comes to achieve the vision of Abu Dhabi which aims at achieving an effective
and sustainable economy.

On the other hand,
in order to attract foreign investments and enhance international cooperation,
the Chamber also organizes the largest International Franchise Exhibitions and
the associated forums that seek to achieve the strategic partnership between
local and foreign business communities. The UAE Association for Franchise
Development (FAD) has been recently launched to back and sustain this effort
and to guarantee its yearly continuity with the highest required efficiency and
effectiveness. It is worth noting that this Association will organize the
meeting of the International Franchise Council by the end of 2019 to be the
first meeting of the Council in the GCC countries.

Mr. Al Mheiri
pointed out that the journey of excellence started in Abu Dhabi more than 20
year ago with the support and encouragement of Abu Dhabi Chamber which launched
the first integrated program for quality and excellence represented by the
Shaikh Khalifa Excellence Award in 1999 followed by Abu Dhabi Quality Forum in
2001 and UAE Quality Association which was launched in cooperation with the
Ministry of Social Affairs in 2006. Following this, the Chamber’s contribution
in cooperation with the Public Secretariat of the Executive Council and
creating Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance 2007 and
establishing the Abu Dhabi International Center for Organizational Excellence
in 2008 which has been serving the public and private sectors so far.

To maintain the
continuous links for the future generations, the Chamber has recently created
the Future Pioneers Award for the youth between 10 and 20 years old and has given
them a clear road map for promoting the culture of investment and
entrepreneurship. Besides, it initiated the small and medium institutions award
to enhance the youth’s interest in this effective sector which constitutes more
than 90% of the Chamber’s memberships. It is worth mentioning that the criteria
of the Chamber’s award for the small and medium institutions adopt the criteria
that focus mainly on the entrepreneurship and facilitate its use by other small
institutions as well as medium ones.

The Director General
of Abu Dhabi Chamber concluded his speech by reiterating his confidence that
the Global Congress of Organizational Excellence will be successful and will achieve
the desired excellence. Besides, he invited all the participants to utilize from
this conference which would add more and more to the interest of our
institutions in various fields.

For his part, the General
Coordinator of Shaikh Khalifa Excellence Award, Professor Hadi Al Tijani
stressed that the excellence that the UAE is witnessing at the international
level and the pioneering status it has achieved are only because of the
excellence of the wise leadership of the UAE represented in His Highness Shaikh
Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, may Allah protect him,
and His Highness Shaikh Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoom, the Vice President, the
