The Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council of Abu Dhabi Chamber organised the “Emirati Women’s Day” Forum under the slogan “Planning for 50 - Women are Supporters to their Nation” on the occasion of the UAE celebrating the Emirati Women’s Day held annually on 28 August.

The Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council of Abu Dhabi Chamber organised the “Emirati Women’s Day” Forum under the slogan “Planning for 50 - Women are Supporters to their Nation” on the occasion of the UAE celebrating the Emirati Women’s Day held annually on 28 August. 

The virtual event included several paragraphs beginning with a keynote address by H.E. Mohamed Helal Al Mheiri, Director General of the ADCCI, in which he said that, "The 28th of August every year has become a national occasion to monitor the achievements and successes of Emirati women, and an opportunity to be proud of their achievements in all fields". He stressed that the UAE has proudly made important strides in promoting women's participation in various aspects of life, stressing the keenness of the UAE's wise leadership to empower women providing her with all enablers that help perform her role to the fullest.

He added, "The daughter of the UAE has proven that she is a worthy of responsibility, and that she is an integral part of the preparation phase for the next 50 years, to be an assistant and supporter to her brother, the man, in paving the way for realising national achievements and gains”.

The Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber thanked the pioneer of women's renaissance in the UAE, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, Chairwoman of Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Honorary Chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council, appreciating the unlimited support Her Highness always provides for Emirati women. This is because she has a strong belief in their potential and makes sure to provide them with all tools of success to contribute to the development of their nation and society across all fields. 

 

Women's Achievement Day

Her Excellency Maryam Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Chairwoman of the Executive Board of the ADBWC, opened the virtual forum with an inaugural remark where she said, "On 28th August every year, the UAE celebrates the Emirati Women's Day. A date that the wise leadership wanted to make it a dividing line and an exceptional day in the history of the UAE, through which the achievements of the daughter of the UAE, who has surpassed her peers in many countries, are honored." HE sincerely thanked and appreciated His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, (May God bless him) and his brothers: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai, (May God bless him), His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the Rulers of the UAE, Members of the Supreme Council. From them, the Emirati women found care, encouragement and support to help their brothers, the men, and to support their nation in various fields, particularly in the financial and business sector.

Al Rumaithi stressed that the UAE has paid women great care and interest. The owner of the white hands, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, "Mother of the Nation", Chairwoman of General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, Chairwoman of Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Honorary Chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council, has played an eminent role in realising Emirati women's excellence and successes in various fields. Therefore, women’s work has no longer become restricted to certain fields. Rather, many horizons and opportunities are now open before Emirati women making them a fundamental empowerment system locally, regionally and internationally.

She stressed that while the UAE is celebrating Women's Day this year, it reads a 50-year biography lapsed with all successes. At the same time, it is preparing to look ahead to the next 50 years, where Emirati women are armed with academic values, ethics, national identity and professional and practical commitment. As an important pillar of society, she found support, even before the Union, from our late father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan (May God bless his soil). 
The Chairwoman of the ABDWC pointed out that the business sector is one of the important sectors in which the UAE has emerged and achieved quality results. Such results would not have happened without the encouragement of our wise leadership, and Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation” (May God bless her).

 

Forum Event

The Emirati Women's Day included a discussion session on three main topics. The first of which was entitled “Abu Dhabi Government Programs and Initiatives to Promote Women's Participation and Contribution in Business Sector”, presented by HE Rashid Abdul Karim Al Bloushi, Undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development (DED). The second topic dealt with “Priorities and Urgent and Emerging Women Needs in Business Sector post COVID-19 Economic Changes”, presented by HE Azza Suleiman, Director General of the SMEs National Program. The third topic focused on “Successful Experiences of Women in AI”, presented by Ms. Taghreed Al-Saeed, businesswoman and founding partner of Eight Creative Technology Company.

Prepared by the ADBWC, a presentation for a film entitled "Thank You Mother of the Nation" was shown and another film presentation revealing snapshots about the appreciation of the women medical staff efforts who contributed to the community service during COVID-19 pandemic. 

Recognition of UAE Women's First-Line Defense in the Medical Staff of Sheikh Khalifa Hospital

In conjunction with Emirati Women's Day, HE Mohamed Helal Al Mheiri, Director General of the ADCCI, Her Excellency Mariam Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Chairwoman of the Executive Board of the ADBWC, accompanied by a number of Chamber and ADBWC officials and employees, honored the Emirati women in first-line defense of the medical staff at Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in recognition for their efforts made nationwide to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus. During his visit, HE Al Mheiri expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the Emirati woman who has proven that she is a shield and supporter to her nation in the most difficult circumstances. As always, she is still the watchful eye for providing care and immunization to all people living on the soil of the UAE. He said that the Emirati women in the medical sector are still scarifying a lot despite challenges. However, they have shown steadfastness due to the unlimited support of the UAE wise leadership who believes in their potentials and responsibilities in the times of need as always.
