SKEA holds 5 awareness workshops on participation means for 500 companies in Abu Dhabi
The General Secretariat of Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award (SKEA), a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) has organized 5 awareness forums and workshops for the participating companies and establishments in the 12th cycle of SKEA over the past two months.
The forums and workshops come as an effort to raise awareness on the award that these workshops focused on the development program of the award and its contribution to the sustainable economic and social development as well as enhancing competitive capabilities of the private sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
With more than 500 operating companies in Abu Dhabi in different economic, social and services sectors, experts and consultants explained the means of participation and detailed the best strategies to perform self-assessment by companies. The experts also listed the categories which the higher committee of SKEA founded in the award’s 11th cycle in order to encourage all participants and assessors about the subject of quality, excellence and corporate excellence. Such practices represent a model for the companies that implemented the development model of SKEA and realized many successes which were presented for companies and the business and financial community in the emirate.
His Excellency Mohammed Helal Al Muhairi, Director General of the ADCCI and Member of the Higher Committee of SKEA, pointed to the increasing number of participants in the programs and activities of SKEA in its 12th cycle, noting that the award now plays a more active role on the level of the private sector in Abu Dhabi. He said that SKEA enhanced its contribution to the sustainable economic development through developing corporate performance and strengthening efficiency of the business performance of all the operating companies in Abu Dhabi which, as a result, helped in reducing costs and raising quality of products and the services of the private sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It also helped in increasing the numbers of interested companies in the award which are boosting their participating in the 12th cycle of the award that started its works in December 2012.
Member of the Higher Committee of SKEA and the General Coordinator of the Award Prof. Hadi Al Tijani said that the model of the award was built on the latest international models including the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) and the American National Award with focusing on understanding the needs and requirements of the private sector in Abu Dhabi and the country and this is what distinguishes SKEA in implementing the best international models and amend them according to the local requirements of the operating companies and establishments in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Al Tijani said that the strategic target behind the development program of SKEA is in developing corporate performance of all the companies and establishments operating in Abu Dhabi and this is exactly what the award was able to achieve during the first decade of its cycle which focuses on defining the current status of companies in Abu Dhabi based on a background of international standards for quality and excellence. The program also focuses on formulating and developing corporate strategic plans that define the main targets and specify the necessary means to realize them as well as placing proper mechanisms to execute the plans and measure the performance continuously in order to reach quality and excellence in businesses.
